Copenhagen: Sustainable Hedonism

In Copenhagen you’ll see why sustainability isn't all gloom and doom: Here, the locals make it fun and sexy!

You see what we mean when you ski down the roof of a zero-emissions waste-to-energy power facility, and when you swim in the harbor in the middle of the city. (A massive clean-up made the once-industrial harbour what is now the center of Europe's biggest unofficial beach party.)

You'll get access to special meetings with the architects and city planners who, while working on one of Europe's biggest new residential neighborhoods (when it’s complete, it’ll have 40k new homes), also create cutting-edge architecture and hot spots for life in the city.

And just in case the idea of work hard/play hard hasn’t yet sunk in, we'll take you to the places that have made Copenhagen a foodie destination—from wildflower-foraging restaurants to local gourmet temples that have re-imagined fine dining by avoiding the city center's expensive rents.

This tour is for all lovers of the natural environment: It’s a serious introduction to a unique take on sustainability, while also giving you a delectable taste of what the fuss is all about.

Program Overview

A 2-night, 3-day program, including:

  • Accommodation in a centrally located 4-star hotel with industry-setting sustainability standards.

  • A private boat tour of the city's harbor, with Noma's famous burger served as you cruise along.

  • A hyper-seasonal dinner at a restaurant that is redefining fine dining in Copenhagen, with a location inside a public gym.

  • Inside access to companies that are defining the sustainable agenda in Copenhagen. One company is developing the economic blueprint for construction with a whole new economic agenda, and one is building Northern Europe's biggest cityscaping project. We finish with a drink—and maybe even skiing down—from the top of Copenhagen's zero-emissions waste-to-energy power facility.

  • A taste of Copenhagen's New Nordic food scene. We'll take you inside an old apartment where one of the city’s most talented young chefs creates Copenhagen's culinary magic.

  • Get your own island! Leading foundations have donated an island to the youth of Copenhagen—a secret garden just for recreation. Or maybe you’d prefer a tour of the ongoing social experiment, the hippie haven Freetown Christiania?
