An Oyster Safari in Denmark’s Oldest Town
The request?
The client was a management team seeking a team-building retreat for 22 people.
The team needed a shake-up and bonding experience, with elements of nature and distinctive luxury.
Program highlights.
We transported the group by bus to Ribe, the oldest town in Denmark. They stayed overnight at the town’s prison (converted into a luxury hotel, of course!), and dinner was at a centuries-old tavern.
The next day, we took the group to the Wadden Sea (a Unesco World Heritage site), an enormous body of shallow tidal water in the North Sea that has an incredible population of wild oysters.
A guide showed our group how to select and gather the best oysters, after which they enjoyed the oysters they’d picked—accompanied by champagne—out in the wild.
Dinner was at a local farm, where our French chef taught the group to cook oysters à la Francaise and served his own homemade gourmet delights.
The outcome?
“Truly mesmerizing experience. I know of Ribe, but never saw this combination coming. We experienced breathtaking nature, learned about picking oyster and preparing them with a French chef. And then Ribe is just gorgeous!”
